Banco de Portugal informs the banking system about personal identification documents that have been lost, stolen, falsified, counterfeited or used unlawfully.

In case there is more than one document to be sent, a single PDF must be generated, grouping all the documentation you want. It is recommended to generate the PDF with resolution of 100dpi - this resolution allows you to create small and readable documents

PERSONAL DATA PROCESSING POLICY*

Entity responsible, legal basis for and purpose of the processing of personal data

The personal data collected are processed by the Banco de Portugal, a public-law legal person with taxpayer number 500 792 771 and having its head office at Rua do Comércio, 148, 1100-150, Lisbon (“the Bank”), in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (“the Regulation”) and other applicable data protection legislation, in the performance of tasks carried out in the public interest assigned to the Bank, in accordance with Article 6(e) of the General Data Protection Regulation and for the purpose of disseminating information on personal identification documents.

The provision of personal data is mandatory. Failure to provide such data implies that the relevant operation will not proceed.

Storage of personal data

Personal data collected by the Banco de Portugal are stored for ten years.

Recipients of personal data

Personal data collected by the Banco de Portugal are disclosed to exchange offices, banks, the Central Mutual Agricultural Credit Bank, savings banks, mutual agricultural credit banks, mutual agricultural credit banks that are not part of the Mutual Agricultural Credit Scheme (Sistema Integrado de Crédito Agrícola Mútuo – SICAM), financial credit institutions, electronic money institutions, and payment institutions.

Rights of the data subjects

Under the terms provided for in the Regulation and other applicable data protection legislation, you have the right:

  • to request the Bank to access, rectify and erase your personal data;
  • to restrict and object to their processing.

There may be justified and proportional limitations to the exercising of rights to restrict, object to and erase personal data, weighted against the Bank’s pursuit of public interest in a given case.
