The Head of the Banking Conduct Supervision Department of the Banco de Portugal participated in the first joint conference on financial education and literacy held by the three European supervisory authorities – the European Banking Authority (EBA), the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) - on 1 and 2 February.
The conference gathered high-level government representatives as well as experts from public authorities, academia, NGOs, consumer associations and the industry to raise awareness of this important topic. It also offered a forum to share ideas and best practices and to gather input from all the stakeholders on how to tackle future challenges.
