The Banco de Portugal joins European Cybersecurity Month

At the invitation of the Portuguese National Cybersecurity Centre, the Banco de Portugal is joining the European Cybersecurity Month. During the month of October, follow us on the Bank Customer Website and on social media for tips on how to safely access banking products and services from your computer, tablet or mobile phone.

Digital channels allow you to make payments or purchase banking products any time, anywhere in a quick and convenient way. But using these channels can also carry risks, in particular risks to security in transactions.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, use of these channels has increased, including among consumers who are not familiar with the digital environment and are thus vulnerable to computer fraud. Digital financial education is therefore particularly relevant. It is important to understand the risks of using digital channels and the care needed to mitigate them.

The Banco de Portugal is aware of these challenges and has been increasingly focused on digital financial education, namely through the #TopTip digital financial education campaign. You can find the tips on this website.
