The virtual assistant is a generative Artificial Intelligence tool (under development) provided and managed by the Banco de Portugal. It aims to facilitate interaction with banking customers by providing fast and fully automated information and clarification on questions and issues related to retail banking products and services.
The use of the virtual assistant is free and optional. Users still have access to other channels for submitting information requests to the Banco de Portugal (Contact form).
Users should input questions or requests related to retail banking products or services. It is not possible to attach any documents.
The virtual assistant will provide answers based on the information available on the Bank Customer Website. It may occasionally include links redirecting the user to sections of the Bank Customer Website and the Banco de Portugal website.
The virtual assistant’s responses (information and clarifications):
The Banco de Portugal accepts no responsibility for any technical failures or unavailability of this artificial intelligence tool. It is also not liable for any damages resulting from decisions made based on the information provided by the virtual assistant or from possible inaccuracies, omissions, or errors in the responses given.
This information does not exempt users from consulting the legal advice also applicable to the use of the virtual assistant.
To access and use this Artificial Intelligence tool, users are not required to provide any personal data. Therefore, the Banco de Portugal recommends that users do not input or share personal data (their own or others’) when interacting with the virtual assistant.
The insertion of personal data in the virtual assistant is the sole responsibility of its users.

The terms and conditions of the virtual assistant may be changed or updated by the Banco de Portugal at any time.
