Banco de Portugal celebrates the Global Money Week 2018 with activities around the country

For the sixth successive year, Banco de Portugal, within the scope of the National Plan for Financial Education, joined Global Money Week, a worldwide initiative to raise awareness among youngsters on the importance of money and savings. This year, Global Money Week ran from March 12 to 16, under the slogan ‘Money Matters Matter!’. This year, Banco de Portugal focused the celebration in Porto, which also extended to other points around the country.

On 14 March, Banco de Portugal carried out several initiatives at its branch, in Porto, with Colégio Heliântia de Valadares (Vila Nova de Gaia) and Agrupamento de Escolas de Real (Braga), which received an honorable mention on the 6th edition of the Todos Contam competition.

74 students with different ages participated in games and others activities about themes related with personal finance, such as the importance of planning a budget and its key underlying concepts, as well as euro banknotes and their security elements.

Over that week, through its regional branches, Banco de Portugal promoted financial training session for around 340 students of all ages in the districts of Aveiro, Coimbra, Évora, Porto and Viseu and in Azores.
