Banco de Portugal published Instruction No 33/2018.
This Instruction updates the requirements to be observed by institutions when reporting to Banco de Portugal on home loans and mortgage loans in their portfolios at year end.
The new requirements are a consequence of the entry into force of Decree-Law No 74-A/2017, of 23 June 2017.
Pursuant to the publication of Instruction of Banco de Portugal No 33/2018, credit institutions now have to report information on all active home loans and mortgage loans according to new categories, in particular:
home loans secured by a mortgage;
home loans not secured by a mortgage;
real estate financial leasing;
other credits secured by a mortgage (consolidated credit among other).
Instruction No 33/2018 replaces Instruction No 19/2016. The first report made in accordance with the new regulation will regard home and mortgage loan agreements in the institutions' portfolios as at end-2018.
This information enables Banco de Portugal to monitor and analyse the market for home loans and mortgage loans. Banco de Portugal publishes this market's analysis every year in the Retail Banking Markets Monitoring Report (only in Portuguese).
